Romit Shah

It is not very often we meet people who can say they have beaten cancer but ‘SIMPLY HUMAN – Superheroes Without Capes’ have two people who can.

Having completed his Masters of Environmental Engineering from Griffith University, Romit Shah was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) in 2011 and is currently in remission with no signs of cancer remaining in his body. After the fight of all fights he is now looking to impart and share his experiences with others.

As can only be imagined, to come through something as harrowing as leukaemia would take an incredible amount of positivity – something this young man has in abundance.

Life is all about those little moments – the chances we take and the judgements we make. Romit saw the help Ujwal flyer which had been shared and posted through social media channels and decided to contact Prerna. Once the pair met shortly after, he has been by her side ever since throughout the campaign as well as now being part of the organisation.

Living in Australia as a non-permanent resident meant he needed to have his treatment in India. As a result of this he was in a position of strength to help source a suitable bone marrow match for Ujwal via Indian Doctors and not for profit groups within the country. The help he provided proved invaluable in assisting Ujwal’s recovery.

Other than a heavy involvement with the ‘Help Ujwal Campaign’ Romit is a true and dedicated entrepreneur. As owner of a local organic and gluten free shop in Toowong (Toowong Fresh), he is a staunch advocate and believer in a healthy lifestyle creating a better you.

Romit is also a Director with ‘Let’s Go India’ which is an inbound tour operator under the umbrella of ‘IcegroupIndia’. The company specialises in FIT’s, Group Tours, MICE and event organisation in both India and other international hotspots.

Since his graduation from university Romit has been an active member of several non-for-profit organisations, often volunteering his time for nothing other than a thank you and the knowledge he is helping others to improve themselves.

A passionate traveller and lover of sports he is one of the most loved and respected people one could ever wish or hope to meet.

Because of his own personal circumstance as being a non-Australian resident during his illness, Romit has a wealth of information with which to share to help others. His humility and caring nature only add to what this amazing person has to offer.
