Prerna did not intend to start an organisation. She simply intended to help.
Along with two dear friends, she stepped in when Ujwal’s family needed guidance, support and hope. What began as a small group effort quickly turned into a community-wide movement — because Prerna refused to give up.
She was the one who reached out to communities across Brisbane and beyond.
She was the one who telephoned, messaged, coordinated, organised and mobilised.
She was the one who held Ujwal’s parents when they broke down, reassured doctors, spoke at events, and kept hope alive even when circumstances felt overwhelming.
With her friends by her side and her community around her, Prerna helped raise $88,000 for Ujwal’s stem cell transplant — a life-saving amount that symbolised the power of community-led kindness.
But alongside the success, Prerna noticed something else — something deeper.
